Fis-17 t’Ottubru f’Gent se ssir preżentazzjoni minn Konrad Buhagiar “Valletta: From renaissance to Renzo Piano“. Il-preżentazzjoni hija deskritta hekk:
This talk will explore a theoretical framework which can help modern interventions take old buildings into a new time and a new life, with all its different technical and social requirements. In this way, identity which has always remained a dynamic phenomenon, will evolve and be guaranteed. To this end, the changing image of Valletta, the city built by the knights of St. John on the island of Malta, will be traced as a backdrop to some recent ‘acts of modernization’. As Françoise Choay described them, these are not “about giving a new appearance but about inserting a regenerating implant into the body of old buildings”. These micro-interventions, grafted onto the historic fabric, are today contributing to the regeneration of the architectural identity of the town.
