The Prime Minister also noted his desire that the Maltese Community working in the various EU institutions develops into a network which can further benefit Malta’s interests at an EU level. In particular, he noted that the experience of the Maltese community in Brussels and Luxembourg will be invaluable to Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2017. He stressed that the Presidency will need to be a national effort in order to be a success.
The Prime Minister expressed the Government’s strong commitment in maintaining strong ties with Malta’s expatriate community, also noting the challenges which some Maltese families living in Brussels and Luxembourg face.
